Happy Monday!
Thank you for the 7 parents who ordered from Scholastic under our class name. We earned 28 FREE BOOKS for our classroom library!!! (See photos below). I asked the students what books they wanted to see in our classroom library and they chose these 3 sets of books! So, thank you parents! I will place another order the first week of December, if you wanted to place an order for Christmas...
We are wrapping up Unit 1 Week 5 this week with Long i/Short i sounds. Next week will be 100% review and taking our Unit 1 Wonders Assessment. This will be done together as a class. I will walk students through each section, teaching them how to take the test. (ie. reading a passage, looking for text evidence, highlighting key words, etc.) This will take up our Wonders block each day.
On Friday, we completed our Unit 1 Math Assessment. I will use this data to drive my small math group instruction and centers. Keep working on coins at home!!! That seems to be tricky for most. Students should be able to identify all coins and know the value of each coin. We have Mrs. Elliott, our Math Interventionist visiting our classroom everyday from 10:00-10:30am! Yay! She is a HUGE asset to our classroom!
Today, a yellow packet came home explaining our Unit 2 Everyday Math Unit. Please review and keep to check in with your student. This will also help when Home Links come home for Homework.
Tomorrow going home you will see the Leaf Rubbing reports we did with our reading buddies on Friday. We took a nature walk outside and found a leaf that was laying on the ground. Each student chose 1 leaf and they measured it in Centimeters, drew a life like picture of their leaf and make a prediction about what would happen when they rubbed their leaf with a crayon. Lastly, on the back page is their leaf rubbing. Enjoy!
Yellow Fire Safety forms are DUE back this THURSDAY.
We are touching base on Christopher Columbus this week and Fire Safety next week so ask your children questions about what they are leaning in school! :)
We have filled our bucket of fuzzies once again! I am SO incredibly proud of how hard all of my students are working. We will be voting for a reward tomorrow.
Have a great week!
