What a great way to end our bear unit! We laid out on the carpet with our teddy bears and blankets, snacking on some lemonade and popcorn, while watching Little Bear and the Picnic on Pudding Hill.
I am SO proud of my kindergartners and what they have accomplished within this unit! They have really pushed themselves in their writing and for that I am amazed! They are excellent at graphing as well!
I created a bound book out of all of their bear writing, illustrations and math graphing for you to enjoy. It went home in their blue folders yesterday. You will also notice an acrostic poem on Polar Bears that their 5th grade reading buddies created for them as a surprise!
When we return from vacation, I will be conducting another round of one on one assessments to prep for our second trimester report cards. (Be on the look out for a Sign Up Genius to sign up for a conference slot). Typically this is the time we start talking about placement for next year and I will be explaining the Gesell assessment process that each kindergartner will be taking before they exit kindergarten.
Enjoy your vacation! I hope you all can relax this week and spend some family time together!
See you in March!
What an exciting day! We had so much fun making our 100th day hats, gumball machines, 100 fruit loop necklaces with our reading buddies, dance party with Ms. Dana, and our 100th Day centers!
**If your child was out sick today, PLEASE have them wear their shirt on Monday and we will celebrate with them!
Enjoy the photos!
Just as a reminder, we will be celebrating our 100th Day of School tomorrow! Please have your child wear their 100th day shirt! I have been hearing a lot about them!
Today we wrote about Brown Bears and made our Valentine Bears, that will hold our Valentines! I sent a letter home at the beginning of the week describing our Valentine/Friendship Day. Here is the letter just i case...
We will be celebrating our classroom friendships on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018.
Students are welcome to bring in valentines to pass out in class, as long as they have one for everyone. There is NO need to bring in a valentine box, because we will be making valentine bear holders that coincide with our bear unit.
*There are 14 students in our class. Please make sure your child writes their name on each valentine. Here is a list of class names, so your child can write in their classmates’ name. Students will have to find their classmates valentine boxes by reading and matching their names. This is a great skill to practice!

Friendship Fruit Salad
For snack on this day, we will make a Friendship Fruit Salad.
I am asking that each child bring in a small zip-lock baggie of one type of cut up fruit (grapes, kiwi, apples, strawberries, pomegranate, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.) Each student will dump in their baggie of fruit and say something they are appreciative for in their friendships. We will mix up all the fruit and enjoy our friendship fruit salad together.
(Just a side note – many students do not like bananas J)
A letter was sent home last week.....but here it is again, just in case...
I can't wait to see everyone's 100th Day Shirts on FRIDAY!
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 9th.
100th Day of SCHOOL!!!
To celebrate the 100th Day of school, we are going to celebrate by creating and wearing a t-shirt with 100 items! For example; (100 cotton balls, 100 cheerios glued to it, 100 buttons, name written on shirt 100 times, 100 paper clips, 100 pom poms, etc.) Students will create their t-shirts at home and wear to school on our 100th day, Friday, February 9th, 2018! The students will be creating some 100th Day activities in class that day too. If you need assistance, please contact me so I can help you!
Love, Mrs. LeBourveau
*Please NO STICKERS. Stickers fall off too easily and end up stuck all over our floor and tables. Thank you!
