This week:
We had such an amazing week in kindergarten! We learned all about the letter Aa! We read books about Fall and Johnny Appleseed and completed our Apple Taste testing and graphing in math. We have been reading our sight word books everyday and hope they practice this weekend with you at home to shoe off their reading skills.
We have also started our RtI groups and Reading groups!

Next week:
We are learning about the letter Ss! We will be doing more graphing and subatizing in math! We will begin painting our fall trees and writing our fall poems. Next weeks wraps up Unit 1 and with that we will be taking our first Unit Assessment. We will take our first unit assessment as a whole class. We will learn step by step how to take an assessment and answer questions using our best guesses.
We will have Library on Monday, Ms. Dana and Reading Buddies on Friday!

FYI...
Looking for a LARGE pumpkin to be donated to our classroom for our science unit on pumpkins!  Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to donate!

The classroom is getting cooler so please dress in layers and wear comfy shoes.

*If pick-up plans change, PLEASE write a note in the morning!

Have a great BEAUTIFUL FALL weekend!

Wow!  We had such a busy week! We are almost done with our one on one assessments and will begin small groups by the end of next week!

Just a reminder that Monday is PICTURE DAY!  Please bring in picture forms first thing in the morning. Our picture time is right after attendance!

Today we met Ms. Dana and talked about out "thought bubbles"!  We also had Mrs. Elliott's 5th grade reading buddies here for the first time. It was amazing watching your children read to them and in turn listen to s story their 5th grade buddy read to them.

Up next week......the letter Aa!!!  More to come on Monday!

Have a FUN weekend!!!

Parents,

Please join me on Back to School Night next week, Tuesday, September 19th, from
5:30-6:00pm. We will only have 30 minutes to chat so I will begin my presentation right at 5:30pm sharp!  Feel free to arrive a few minutes early to look around the classroom to see what we have been working on! I will have a variety of handouts and will discuss the kindergarten curriculum and expectations for this school year.
Please remember that this is an adult event only. Please keep your kiddos at home.
See you then!
Mrs. LeBourveau

What a great first week of kindergarten!  Your children are probably very tired!  They have learned lots of new rules and procedures, read lots of books, played lots of centers and made many new friends!

Today we read Chrysanthemum!  We counted the letters in our first name and name a beginning sound name craft.  These will dry over the weekend and get hung up on Monday.

Just a friendly reminder that parents must park their vehicles and walk across the crosswalk to pick up their children. If you have other family members that do pick up, please make sure they know these procedures. It gets very busy with almost 30 kindergartners and moving cars! We want our kiddos to be safe!

We have shared our paper dolls and waiting on a a few more!  Feel free to begin in this coming week so your children can share!

What another great day!  Today we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and all of our letters made it back to the coconut tree!
We also talked about our 4 class rules;
         1. Listen and Follow Directions
         2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
         3. Use materials properly
         4. Be kind in your words and actions

In math we worked on the number 2 and pattern blocks!

(P.S. I can post more pictures as soon as I have ALL the photo release forms back!)
