We have been very busy this week in kindergarten!
This week we learned all about the letter "O" and sight word "you". We did a lot of sight word review this week as well as writing sentences in our journals, using our new sight words.
In math, we worked on beginning addition using manipulatives, counting to 100 by 1's, and 10's, counting on from a given number and "which number is bigger or smaller". Feel free to ask you children "what is bigger or smaller" this weekend!
We worked on a very fun project today at school with our fifth grade reading buddies. We made applesauce and cinnamon ornaments! It was very fun and the classroom smells great! For those kiddos absent today...no worries! You will have an ornament waiting for you Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend! And remember, no snow gear needed on Monday!
Just reminder that we do NOT have school tomorrow due to a Teacher Workshop Day!
This week we wrapped up our final assessments for our new RTI groups beginning next week. We will be changing our RTI group students and teachers. SO, if you hear your child talking about a different RTI teacher, that is why!
Today REPORTS CARDS went home in their blue folders. Please sign the envelop and return the envelop only.
We completed our winter poems and trees and those will be hanging in the classroom...I hear the snow is coming!
Joe's English Board is looking for presenters for the next Community Meeting. If your child is interested in sharing a piece of writing and reading it on stage let me know and I can help you submit their work. We are up to 10 sight words now so they have plenty to write about!
Thank you again for all of the donations for our December activities!
Take a look at our AMAZING readers below!!!
This week went by so fast!
We learned all about the letter Cc and sight word "go". We talked about the different parts to a story; characters, setting and main idea in our big book for the week " Please take me for a walk".
In writing we completed our first Kindergarten Benchmark! This will take place again in late Winter and end of year. Students were asked to write about their favorite animal. I am very impressed with their writing! I will share these with you during conferences next week.
In math we are at the beginning stages of addition. We are working on addition stories, and parts to an addition problem. We also created gingerbread people glyph for our new bulletin board display (see pictures below).
Thank you for the donations for December so far! We are still in need of some items, so if you could donate that would be amazing!
Thank you and have a great weekend!
