As usual, we have been hard at work! Check out our new class bulletin! We wrote about what we like to do in the winter!
We also have some really cute hibernating bears on our classroom doors!
Last week, we learned about black bears and this week we will be learning about panda bears!
We have been writing A LOT! Extra practice writing a sentence at home can only benefit your child. If they wish to write a complete sentence at home and illustrate a picture to go with it, they can bring it in to share and get a treat from the prize box.
A complete sentence includes....
-Uppercase letter at beginning of the sentence
-Finger spacing in between each word
-Punctuation at the end of each sentence
-Spell phonetically (spelling does not have to be perfect). I would rather them sound it out on their own to help them get proficient with sounding out and writing independently, rather than copy a sentence that an adult wrote.
100th Day is Happening next Friday, February 9th! A letter will be going home to explain 100th Day tomorrow!
*Please work on tying shoes
**THANK YOU to everyone who donated supplies for February. We have everything we need!
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you for all of your donations to the Theme Basket! Special thanks to Katie Hall for putting it all together! More tickets can be purchased Saturday nigh at the Lip Sync Contest. The doors open at 5:30pm (A fee of a canned good for the food pantry is suggested), Lip Sync starts at 6:30pm.
I love this time of year because I teach my unit on Bears. We will learn about a new bear each week for 4 weeks (Panda, Polar, Black and Brown bears). At the end of each week, we will write what we have learned about the bear and follow it up with a craft. At the end of our unit we will write a single piece about our favorite bear. I also incorporate some math into our unit where we will graph gummy bears and some other numeracy activities. The Unit will come to a close just before February vacation. We will wrap up with a Teddy Bear Picnic....more info to come.
Just a reminder as we discussed in conferences that we are now really working hard and focusing on our teen numbers and writing our first and last names. Feel free to practice and encourage your children at home.

We have had a pretty crazy week back from vacation! We had a snow day today, and a 2 hour delay tomorrow, which means NO AM Kindergarten. SO, our Winter Celebration will take place on Friday, January 12th. We will wear our pj's, have our hot cocoa and book swap that day.
A few important things...
The classroom tends to be chilly in the morning so packing an extra sweater/sweatshirt is not a bad idea.
Next Week we will be doing our next round of AIMsWeb Literacy and Numeracy Assessments. So we will be doing lots of review! We will also be diving into teen numbers; focusing on numbers 11-15 next week.
I'd like to say Thank You again for my holiday gifts. It means a lot that you thought of me!
I enjoy teaching your children and seeing their smiling faces every day! I love my job!
Stay warm and I will see you next week!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
