We have been working so hard on being good bobcats and rising to classroom expectations! We are working on being Safe, Respectful and Responsible in the classroom. A few things we are still working on are; raising our hand versus shouting out and wondering around the room when we should be working at our desks independently. I will be going over our Clip Up and Down System on Monday night at back to school Night.
Yes! Monday, Sept 24th is Back to School Night for PARENTS, We will meet in my classroom from 6:40-7:10 pm Sharp!...please leave kiddos at home! We will have a lot to discuss in a short amount of time ans then I would love to open up the floor for any questions you may have. A few things... Homework - Needs to be turned in on Fridays Change of Plans at Dismissal - NEEDS to be in a note or students will be sent home their normal way that we have on file...this is creating a lot of anxiety in students when it is not communicated to them by parents what their "new" plan is. Reading Groups and RTI - begin next week Paper Towels - water bottles are constantly being dropped on the floor. I would love some absorbent rolls of paper towels to aid in clean up....school ones just don't cut it! This week was a lot of fun working on our science projects on the life cycle of a butterfly...these will be shared with parents on Monday night. We also enjoyed a special treat today. We filled our class bucket for the first time and I treated the students to ice cream. We also finished up our ice cream writing projects! Here are some photos to enjoy of out last 2 weeks...

I hope everyone enjoyed their day off. On Monday we talked about what Patriot's Day means and the brave heroes of 9/11/01. We wanted to show our appreciation to our local heroes for helping keep us safe every day...right here in our own town. So, we wrote letters to our local firefighters and police officers here in New Boston and to two dad's in our classroom that also serve. I delivered these letters to the police department and fire station this morning and they were very surprised and thankful for the support of our students.
We are off to an amazing start this year! *I can begin posting classroom photos as soon as I have everyone's photo release forms in. Thank you :) What an awesome first day of second grade! We had our first fire drill and school assembly. We talked a lot about BOBCAT behavior; SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL. We also went over our classroom, bathroom, hallway, recess and lunch room expectations....It was a lot of information for one day so we will continue to review procedures daily until no longer needed.
A FEW THINGS.....The Office Sent home a few important papers, as did I. It is a lot for us parents, especially if you have multiple children....I have two children of my own so I completely understand. Please make sure to send these documents back to school by THIS FRIDAY. The WHITE Emergency Verification Form is also very important to return...even if there are no changes. We need all parents to verify and sign this paper EVEN IF THERE ARE NO CHANGES. Specials: Monday - Music Tuesday - Gym - MUST wear sneakers Wednesday - Art Thursday - Library Friday - Social Thinking with Ms. Brown FYI...Our classroom is VERY TOASTY! Please make sure that your kiddo is wearing summer clothing and sent in with a water bottle so we can stay hydrated throughout the day. Water bottles are very wet and sweaty and leaking on our desks....so if you have an old sock to wrap around it that helps....I will also be bringing some in to help with this as well... Overall, I thought we had a very successful day. Our class was showing excellent Bobcat behavior during the assembly and lunch today!!! Way to go! I will keep you updated on a weekly basis but I will reach out individually if needed. Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 24th at 6:40pm. This will be Back to School Night for PARENTS ONLY. We will go over our second grade curriculum and I will answer any questions you may have before hand. Thank you all for your support!
