What a great week we have had! We "Filled our Bucket" as a class and earned our first reward. The students voted and... stuffed animal day it was! We have been working really hard on our behaviors; listening when teacher is giving directions, not talking when teacher is talking, etc. We are doing great as a class but still need reminders throughout the day! We will keep working on it!
We learned about Patriot Day and brought home a booklet to share with our families. We also wrote letters to the New Boston Police and Fire Department to thank them for everything they do for our town. They are our local heroes!
Today we worked on a project together....CRACKING THE CODE! We have to work as a group to read and answer questions to solve the mystery. Today we were able to Crack the Code of the missing school supplies. As soon as all of the photo release forms are back, I can begin posting pictures of students working in the classroom! I will be sending out a reminder for these forms again today!
We are done with AIMsWeb testing so I am looking forward to starting my math and reading groups! If your student will be picked up for interventions, a permission slip will go home to you first!
Ice Cream has started and it is every Friday for .75 cents
Popcorn begins Wed. Sept 25th for .50 cents (unless you pre-bought)
If your child has a change of plans, please send in a note! (There are times when I am not with students at dismissal. For example IEP meeting, out sick, etc. Bus drivers also have subs, so please make sure there is always a note!)
Have a wonderful weekend!
What an amazing first week we had! We took a lot of time out of our days to get to know each other, as well as the classroom rules, procedures and expectations.
I also gave the students a spelling inventory, beginning of the year math assessment and a few other activities that were direction based so I could gather a baseline of where each student is individually (for example, the "Read and Draw" coloring activity coming home this week helped to assess their reading, ability to read details, follow directions, etc).
This coming week the students will be taking the AIMsWeb Math and Reading assessments on the iPads in the classroom. All of this information is helping me get to know your kiddos so I can begin small group instruction for math and reading in the next week or two. I will explain more about my small group instruction tomorrow night at Back to School Night for Parents from 6:40-7:10pm in my classroom.
All of the forms sent from the office (nurse form, computer, etc.) were due back on Friday. If you have any last forms to fill out, please get them to me asap so I can return them to the office on Monday after school.
This week we will begin our first week of homework. If your child forgets their homework packet at school, you can always check their homework on this website under the "HOMEWORK" tab.
See you tomorrow night for BACK TO SCHOOL!
What an amazing first day we had!
First and foremost, I have added all of the "Guardian Email 1" to my class contacts list right from Power School (this is what the office has on file). If you would like an additional email (the other spouse/parent) to also receive my emails, please send me their email address and I will add them to my list as well. Many parents like both parent emails to be notified when I send out updates and information.
Today went by very quick and I am sure you have some tired kiddos. I myself am exhausted! We covered many classroom rules and procedures today. We also created an "ALL ABOUT ME" pennant that will be posted outside of our classroom for Back to School Night (for parents only). We will continue to learn about our classroom procedures and each other over the course of this week and next. I really like to nail down our classroom procedures and expectations and make sure they are solid. This way, we are ready to rock and start some really fun projects!
I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the classroom supply donations. We are stocked for awhile! I normally send out thank you notes, but it was a little hectic this morning so I wanted to send an email to reach everyone! You are very much appreciated!
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday, September 9th, from 6:40-7:10pm for Back to School Night for Parents. We will go over a ton of information that you do not want to miss!
*Reminder to send in all forms by Friday so they can be delivered to the appropriate places; nurse, office, etc.
Enjoy the rest of the week!

Welcome to Second Grade!
Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jillian LeBourveau and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this year! I have a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I spent my first years teaching kindergarten and second grade in Arizona. The last four years, I have called New Boston Central School my home. I have traveled all over the world; lived in many states and another country as a military spouse. I am proud to call New Boston my forever home. It is truly a special place.
I love being a teacher and feel that it is one of the most rewarding professions. I love children and their passion for learning. As a teacher and a mom of two, I feel as though I will provide a safe, positive and loving learning environment to your child in order for them to develop to their fullest potential academically and socially.
As you know I am only their teacher for ten months and you are their teacher for life. As their parents, you are the most important adults in their lives. You know your child’s strengths and feelings of inadequacy. With that said, you can be a tremendous source of information to me, and an invaluable extension of support for your child’s education at home. With our unified effort and commitment to your child’s education, we can be assured of a successful school year!
Here are some items to help make your child’s 2nd grade year successful. Please bring these items on the first day of school.
I look forward to meeting you and your family at Meet the Teacher in August!
Enjoy your summer!

Thank you all for an amazing year! I hope you have a wonderful summer.
See you in the fall third graders!
Love, Mrs. LeBourveau
Our field trip is this coming Tuesday, June 4th. HAVE STUDENTS WEAR BLUE BOBCAT TEE-SHIRT! We will be returning to school around 4pm. Please make sure your child knows who will be picking them up! We go rain or shine, so your child needs to be dressed for the weather. Think layers! Our purple shirts are at school and the kids will be putting them on before we leave. Here some field trip packing tips:
* Pack snacks separately from lunch items. Put snack items LAST in your child's backpack so they won't have to dig through everything when it is time to snack on the bus. They will need an AM BUS snack and a PM BUS snack.
* All backpacks and lunchboxes will be tossed (maybe even shoved) into a large bin. Please don't send breakable items! Nothing will stay on the bus. Food items will need protection to prevent from being squished.
* Please do not send your child with a lot of money for the gift shop. $10 or less is plenty, labeled with their name in a plastic baggie. The shop is small and not staffed to handle 100 kids needing to make quick purchases. Many times we don't have time to go in, but sometimes we do. (Many of the items same items can be purchased online for less.)
IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR CHILD HOME WITH YOU FROM SQUAM LAKE YOU MUST SUBMIT A NOTE TO ME FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BEFORE WE LOAD THE BUS. I WILL NEED TO DELIVER THESE TO THE OFFICE BEFORE WE LEAVE NBCS. WE CANNOT MAKE THIS CHANGE ONCE WE HAVE LEFT SCHOOL GROUNDS.
