What an amazing first week we had! We took a lot of time out of our days to get to know each other, as well as the classroom rules, procedures and expectations.
I also gave the students a spelling inventory, beginning of the year math assessment and a few other activities that were direction based so I could gather a baseline of where each student is individually (for example, the "Read and Draw" coloring activity coming home this week helped to assess their reading, ability to read details, follow directions, etc).
This coming week the students will be taking the AIMsWeb Math and Reading assessments on the iPads in the classroom. All of this information is helping me get to know your kiddos so I can begin small group instruction for math and reading in the next week or two. I will explain more about my small group instruction tomorrow night at Back to School Night for Parents from 6:40-7:10pm in my classroom.
All of the forms sent from the office (nurse form, computer, etc.) were due back on Friday. If you have any last forms to fill out, please get them to me asap so I can return them to the office on Monday after school.
This week we will begin our first week of homework. If your child forgets their homework packet at school, you can always check their homework on this website under the "HOMEWORK" tab.
See you tomorrow night for BACK TO SCHOOL!
