3/19/20 - 3/20/20
Read - Each day (both Thursday & Friday) find a great book, and read for at least 20 minutes! If you finish, make sure you login to Reading Counts to take a quiz (see Website/Logins page if needed for access).
For one of the days, choose one or more of the “Response Questions” listed under Remote Learning Resources (this will be in PDF/link format titled Response Questions). Write a 3-5 sentence written response on a piece of paper. Please use complete sentences with capitalization and punctuation. Email your work to your teacher when completed.
English/Language Arts - Grammar - Contractions
We have attached two PDF practice pages. We do not need these pages returned to us. This is just for some at-home practice. We are hoping that these can be completed with someone at home, to monitor for mistakes. Feel free to print them out for practice, but your second grader can write their answers on a separate piece of paper, or complete them orally, as well. Feel free to watch the contraction video on BrainPopJr (not BrainPop) again. They are different websites.

Friday - Go Noodle - Indoor Recess - It’s Raining Cats & Dogs - https://family.gonoodle.com/activities/its-raining-cats-n-dogs
Math - Today, we are going to complete our first math lesson. We have created a tutorial video, which will give you an overview of all of the components of a typical lesson. It is long BUT very helpful!!

Now, please login to Everyday Math, and explore lesson 6.1 that is up for our class (Please note that you will not have access to tomorrow's math lesson until tomorrow. It is set to access one lesson per day). When you enter your Everyday Math home page, it will say, “Go to Lesson _” If you click on this main box, it will bring you to a page with all of the components of the lesson on it. You can explore all of the components, just as an exploration, so that you can get comfortable with what a lesson looks like online. After you have explored the lesson, you will complete Math Boxes for that lesson. You can do this either electronically. (this was covered in the video) or, as a print version, which we will attach as a PDF. You can print and write on the page, or write answers on a separate page.
*UPDATE - Math Boxes cannot be printed at this time...please check back later. We are working on it!

In class, we typically use Fridays to review skills that have been challenging for us, during the week. This week, I would ask that you login to Xtramath (if you forget your 4 digit login, let me know and I’ll send it to you. Then, I want to you to pick some part of the online tools that you feel would be helpful. This could be a math game, practicing with base ten blocks in the e toolkit, or practicing with a math deck. You could also play top-it with a sibling or parent, using a regular deck of cards.

STEAM Activity: Check in to your classroom webpage on Friday, to participate in a STEAM activity!
Bonus Ideas: There are so many great “Remote Learning Activities” being shared out there such as author’s sharing their stories and teaching students to draw, virtual field trips, etc. As teachers, we cannot ask you to download anything or access site that are not on our approved website lists. If you would like to work on those on your own, I would love to hear about it. (You can also google “remote learning activities and get similar results.
