Dear Parents,
Thank you in advance for your patience as we work to give your child the best possible education under these circumstances. We understand that this is an unsettling time for all. We will work through this process together and overcome challenges as they arise. Please understand that we will be easing into this process, so that hopefully no one will feel overwhelmed. We will be here to support you and your child, every step of the way. Today, we will be starting with one language arts assignment, and will continue to build comfortable, predictable, and successful learning experiences. Here are a few tips to help you get started with remote learning.
Assignments
It will be your responsibility to access your teacher’s website each school day to check your child’s daily assignments and due dates. Assignments will not be emailed to you. Instead, we hope students will look forward to visiting the website and reading the letters we write to them, which will include their assignments.
Routine
It will be important to maintain a routine while your child participates in remote learning. The consistency of a routine will be reassuring to your child. Create and post a schedule for the day and stick to it, just like a traditional school day. Designate specific times for remote learning. Designate a time you expect your child to be up and out of bed. Maintain consistent meal-times and bed-times.
Clothing
Require your child to get dressed each morning, it promotes a sense of productiveness.
Supplies
If you haven't already, set up a learning station. (Make sure it is up and away from animals and little fingers!) Give your child the responsibility of maintaining the learning station and keeping it clutter-free. It forms a good habit right from the beginning! Your child will need:
Snack
Snack time is very important in school. It will be important during remote learning as well! Don't forget to drink lots of water to stay hydrated, as well.
Recess
For many this is their favorite part of the school day! Don't forget to build-in daily outside time! Go for a walk, a short hike, or a bike ride. The weather is nice, get a head-start on spring chores like raking and pruning. Kids can help with all of that! Create a scavenger hunt for your child, and then have them create one for you!
Class Website
Your child can access his/her virtual learning assignments by going to the NBCS website (https://www.nbcs.k12.nh.us/index.php/faculty-staff) and clicking on the house icon next to your child's teacher's name.
Sincerely,
The Second Grade Team
